The Flash S03E05 Recap

0

SOME SPOILERS AHEAD.

flash-s03e05_3I am really, really loving Caitlin’s story line this season. I’m so excited to see her become Killer Frost. Her story line is probably the best thing about this season right now and the only thing I am truly looking forward to and enjoying every single week.

But as much as I want to see her make the transition to Killer Frost, I don’t actually want her to be Killer Frost; I want her to get the powers but I don’t want her to turn evil and become a villain. I also don’t want her to get the powers and turn evil and then Team Flash finds someway to take them away and “fix her.” I want her to have the powers and remain herself.

We got a little flash – no pun intended – of her potential villainy when she was defending herself against Nigel. It seemed like she wasn’t in control of herself there and it was kind of scary. Caitlin is the sweetest, nicest, kindest, softest, most generous person on all of The Flash. So to see her turn evil would be really sad and disappointing.

flash-s03e05_1If she really does turn evil – if that’s unavoidable – I really, really hope that the writers of the show do it in a way that does her character justice. That makes sense and even if we as the audience don’t like what has happened to her, we understand and sympathise with her and maybe even pity her.

Just the thought of sweet little Caitlin turning evil is very depressing. I can see the tragedy coming and I am not prepared for it.

The whole kaiju thing this week was weird. Not weird in and of itself, but weird for The Flash.

Firstly is the fact that there was even a giant monster to begin with. The Flash doesn’t do monsters. It’s not that kind of show and no, King Shark doesn’t count. Second, that it turned out it was a hologram made by a 15 year old who is a victim of bullying and wanted to feel powerful and scare others for once.

I’m so used to the villains in this show being  meta humans, even the weekly ones, that it feels kind of strange and not Flash-y for it to just be a normal person. That doesn’t happen very often.

That whole story felt like filler to pad the episode so that it would reach it’s 30 minute run time. Everything else in the episode felt relevant. This was just weird.

flash-s03e05_2We finally got to learn more about Julian. We learnt a lot about him actually. He was the source of the second info dump heavy scene in this episode (the first being Caitlin’s conversation with her mother about her dead father and husband), when he told Barry about his life back in England. We see now why he hates metas, it comes down to jealously more or less; they have powers and he doesn’t. He wants powers to help people and criminal metas squander them. I’m starting to think that maybe he’ll get powers from Dr. Alchemy just because of that little revelation.

It’s still not clear why he dislikes Barry. I get the feeling that he will find out that Barry is The Flash sooner rather than later and I don’t think he’ll react to that very well. It was nice to see him and Barry make some progress toward not hating each other, though.

HR was trying waaaaay too hard. Like Cisco, I had an off feeling about him the moment that he showed up and I still don’t trust him. I don’t buy his story about being a “scientist” and novelist. What would be the point of that in the broader context and scheme of the show? It would just be a waste to have him here if that’s the case. There has to be something more to his character. He has to still be hiding something.

He was funny though; being totally incompetent and not knowing what he was doing and trying to cover it up. He was so ridiculous. Tom Cavanagh must really be enjoying himself this season.

Random thoughts:

  1. Barry and Cisco living together is the best thing since buttered toast.
  2. Julian pulled a Draco Malfoy in The Philosopher’s Stone.
  3. All of the show’s budget went into this episode.
  4. Danielle Panabaker’s hair and make-up are amazing! Are her lips blue under that lipstick?
  5. Star Wars reference.

Lastpass goes Free for Multiple Devices

0

Arguably, the best free best freemium password management service just got a whole lot better. Lastpass announced today that you no longer have to pay a subscription fee to utilize the service on multiple devices. Previously it was a $12 per year premium subscription fee to access the service from two different types of devices, like the iPhone app and the Chrome extension, etc. It is still important to note that the premium subscription service is not going away though.  Premium users will still get some added benefits though, including priority customer support, group password sharing, and extra two-factor authentication options.

The pricing change is clearly in response to increasing competition from other password management services. The LogMeIn CEO Bill Wagner said on an earnings call last week that free users drive revenue for LastPass because they often convert to Premium services or serve as referrals for enterprise business opportunities.

“Too many of us are still struggling to build a strong security foundation, at work and at home”, says the Founder, VP and GM of the password management resource in a detailed blog post reminding us of the over 1 billion passwords “publicly leaked due to poor password practices” so far in 2016.”

Security risks and concerns have taken center stage in the last few years, so having a password manager is convenient for a lot of users who have difficulty keeping track of passwords. Lastpass knows it is the most used and well known of these services currently, and with this move it looks like they are aiming to stay that way.

dae-1-front-coverMusical artist Adaeze has released a trailer for the live studio recording sessions of her upcoming album Dae 1.

In the Facebook post, Adaeze stated that every Sunday leading up to November 30th, the day of the album’s release, a new recording session will be posted.

Adaeze describes the album on her website:

“It took me a year and a half to make this project….I had to start by building a studio. Then I had to learn how to produce. Then I had to record myself. I had to find all the right musicians. Find all the right vocalists. I had to cry and mope around for a week…Perhaps that’s a sure way of knowing that this project was made with love… It sounds like church, a bar, a club and a dimly lit bedroom. It sounds like fear & hope – mostly hope.”

dae-1-back-coverMore than just a singer, Adaeze has extended her reach into the areas of fashion, film and philanthropy.

She established the DaeDream Foundation; a non-profit organisation which launched the Face Depression campaign (an awareness raising effort focused on depression and mental health), the One Love Program (which aids disadvantaged families) and the DaeDream Mentorship Program (aimed at children ages 5-13 from the One Love Program, providing mentorship and tutoring).

Once Upon a Time S06E06 Recap

0

SOME SPOILERS AHEAD.

This week’s episode was quite enjoyable. It wasn’t as lackluster as some of the episodes thus far have been.

ouat-s06e06I appreciated the episode focusing on Killian and also his relationship with Henry. It really didn’t occur to me that Killian is more or less Henry’s step-father now and I guess it hit Henry the same time as it did me; I don’t recall Henry being this antagonistic toward Killian before.

It was pretty obvious the second that Killian brought up killing his father and his other little brother, that Nemo’s first mate was said little brother. It was also obvious that Liam had killed Nemo and was now captain of the Nautilus. Add to that the fact that earlier in the episode Killian had said to him that vengeance is easy to give up when it’s not staring you in the face and that one little moment made clear exactly how the story line would play out.

I didn’t expect Henry to come back for Hook. So that was a nice little surprise. The way that the story wrapped up with Killian and Henry being on better terms and Nemo and Liam reuniting was heartwarming.

The Evil Queen cannot be so inept and unaware of just who her opponents are that she couldn’t see that her ploy to separate the Charming family using Killian would not have worked. She failed spectacularly and only drove them closer together.

I’m not exactly sure she even knows what she’s after here. It certainly isn’t clear to me.

ouat-s06e06_1Wasn’t her whole plan to blacken Regina’s heart? Or was that only for the duration of episode two? She really only now tried to make good on tearing apart Team Good. For the past few episode she hasn’t been working toward either of those goals. Now she’s after Snow White’s heart? Again? Can we not recycle old story lines? Do the writers know what they want the Evil Queen to want?

Seeing as her story line this season was the one I was most looking forward to, I gotta say I’m a little disappointed.

The Evil Queen was really fun this episode, however, and was delightfully devious. Her facial expressions, her exaggerated mannerism and the way she spoke…It was evident that Lana Parrilla enjoyed herself filming this episode.

do not need her pairing up with Rumplestiltskin. We went four whole episodes without even a hint at a Rumple/Evil Queen romance and now it’s been shoved back in at full force. The two of them kissing was just…no.

I was holding my breath the entire time Belle was walking up to the shop. I swore she was going to walk in and catch them. It was in slow motion and everything! It would have been interesting to see how she would have reacted to that, given that she spent the entire episode conflicted about his involvement in the life of their child and their relationship moving forward.

ouat-s06e06_2I agree with Belle to some extent that there isn’t anything he can do to repair their marriage. Not if he keeps using the same methods he always has. He has to learn that coercion and manipulation will never win him Belle back. He needs to come to her with honesty, sincerity and transparency.

When she ran into Snow at the hospital and told her that she was there alone for her first ultrasound, I fully expected Snow to offer to stay with her for company and support. It seemed like a Snow White type thing to do. It feels a little odd that she didn’t.

Random thoughts:

  1. “The Time of the Dark Curse” – The writers aren’t even trying with this timeline anymore.
  2. You could make yourself a little less easy to manipulate Zelena.
  3. On the one hand I’m like “Damn Jasmine. Aladdin is right there! Want him for something other than his role as the Saviour!” But on the other hand I’m glad that as a female character, her focus is on her kingdom and not a man.
  4. Aladdin is still stealing?
  5. Star Wars reference.
  6. What kind of cheap sound effects did they use for this tentacle monster? Also, I’ve seen enough anime to know where this is going.

Once Upon a Time airs Sundays at 8 PM on ABC.

Qualcomm buys NXP for $47 billion

0

Well known mobile technology and chip design company Qualcomm confirmed reports Thursday that it plans to buy NXP Semiconductors (the Dutch semiconductor company) for the small price of £38 billion ($47 billion).

To put that into context, when Disney bought LucasFilm a couple years ago it only paid $4 billion. It told Wall Street that the combined company expected to report annual sales of £24 billion ($30 billion), with plans to bullishly elbow its way into “leadership positions across mobile, automotive, IoT, security, RF [radio frequency], and networking.” The Dutch owned NXP co-invented near-field communication (NFC) and operates in more than 35 countries.

This is a predicted move from Qualcomm, as it currently dominates the smartphone market with its constant releases of operating chips for flagship to lower end phones. It is the world’s largest supplier of SoCs for mobile devices and telecom equipment. Last year the company earned an estimated $25 billion dollars in revenue, and is expected to earn slightly more than that when this fiscal year is over

So what does it mean for us mere mortals? It will not affect us directly anytime soon, however we can expect to see the Qualcomm brand appearing in several different areas in the tech world.

Bungo Stray Dogs S02E04 Recap

Kaetan desu! (*≧▽≦)

Last week’s episode took a very dark dark turn the orphans that Oda took in were abducted and killed in what was an intentional car explosion. This has obviously set Oda down the path of destruction as he readies himself to go to the enemy, obviously being Mimic.

Meanwhile a secret meeting takes place on a yacht on the outskirts of the city between Mori (boss of the Port Mafia) and Taneda, chief of the gifted Special Operations Division. The request entails that the Port Mafia do not harm Ango, despite knowing what he has done as well as taking the lead in disposing of Mimic. Rintarou says he has an issue with taking care of Mimic unless he is offered something of the equivalent to make up for that. Taneda presents him with a black envelope with a gold seal on it this causes Rintarou to break out in hysterics…..what in the hell is that document and how does it affect everyone involved in this mess?!

Switching back to the scene of the explosion, Dazai has arrived and is trying to convince Oda that taking revenge is not worth it. Dazai makes one of the deepest, saddest quotes ever….

bungostraydogss02e04-3

“If you place yourself somewhere close to raw emotions where you’re exposed to violence and death, instinct and desire, you can brush against man’s true nature” – Osamu Dazai

Unfortunately his advice falls on deaf ears,  Oda says it is too late for him to find a place to belong and he leaves Dazai in the stormy rain, who desperately calls out to him to stop. As Dazai makes his way to Mimic’s headquarters, he bumps into no other than Edogawa Rampo from Season 1 (Yay, another original cast member gets screen time!) Rampo boasts on how his ability will make him a household name throughout Japan. Oda is clearly not interested and tries to leave but Rampo stops him, insisting that he can prove his ability as a great detective. On putting on his glasses for a closer look, Rampo can see that there is something troubling Oda and tells him that wherever he is about to go, he shouldn’t go there because he’ll die. Not surprisingly, Oda says “Yes….I know” Crinnnnnnnnge

bungostraydogss02e04-5

The rain has stopped and the scene switches to Mimic’s headquarters. We hear a ring of gunshots. Oda has killed five soldiers already not even past the entrance staircase. He then kills another five in the first hallway by throwing a grenade and using the distraction of the explosion to take them out. One of the soldiers goes as far as to thank Oda for his service of killing them and he directs him to where Gide awaits.

bungostraydogss02e04-1

Back at Port Mafia headquarters, Dazai pays Mori an unsus            pected visit. The purpose of this visit is to request permission to organize a gifted Squad to save Oda. Mori allows it, but questions why he would want to do so as Oda did not seem to care about being saved. He makes this quote: “The leader of an organization is at the pinnacle of that organization, and at the same time, he is its slave. The leader must be more than willing to commit any atrocity in order to ensure the organization’s survival.” and pulls out the black envelope we saw earlier in the episode. Dazai puts two and two together then decides to leave. He wants to go to Oda, but Mori’s guards block his path with their guns drawn.

bungostraydogss02e04-6bungostraydogss02e04-7

Oda reaches Gide and he immediately wastes no time in letting him know his purpose for coming there. Gide apologizes for having the children killed but he says it was worth it to see Oda’s stare of hatred. A fierce gun battle ensues, and the men eventually come to terms with not using their abilities in the fight as no progress was being made.

Back at Port Mafia headquarters, without so much as batting an eyelid, Dazai explains that he has figured out that Mori is the cause of all of this conflict. As powerful as the Port Mafia is, they exist in constant fear of being oppressed by the Gifted Special Operations Division. The reasoning behind Mori’s maniacal laughter on the yacht was because he forced the issuance of a permit that allows the Port Mafia to operate a gifted organization, as the price for taking out Mimic. It was Mori who helped Mimic make into the country illegally in order to incite the Gifted Special Operations Division to take action. Mori manipulated the entire situation by leaking the children’s whereabouts to Mimic and he is now using Oda’s rage and his life as the method to eliminate Mimic.

The guards cock their guns as though threatening to shoot, but Dazai knows that Mori will not instruct them to do so because he has nothing to gain from it. Mori says Dazai also has nothing to gain by going to Oda’s rescue unless there is a more logical reason that he is so insistent on going to him. Dazai then turns around and lets Mori know the one reason that he is still going to Oda…. because he is his friend. 🙁 🙁

bungostraydogss02e04-2

Returning to the battle, Oda asks Gied why he wanted this sort of turnout and in return, without answering, Gied asks Oda asks why he stopped killing. Oda elaborates on his reason for wanting to be a writer. The same man from the monochrome flashback gave Oda a book as a young man, that book being the final volume of the novel Oda had been desperately searching for. Before he read it, the man told Oda that it was a terrible book, but on the contrary Oda enjoyed it and said it was wonderful book. Towards the end though, Oda found a flaw in that several pages leading towards the end had been cut out and removed. Right before the removed section was a line that read: ” People live to save themselves. You will understand that at the moment of your own death” (Dark…O.O)

Oda remembers that the man who gave him the book was a hired killer. He knew that Oda was killing so he spoke to him in order to get him off that track. The man’s name turns out to be Souseki Natsume, the VERY AUTHOR of that same trilogy that Oda was reading…AAAAAAAAAHHHH the plot thickens people!!)

Gied then tells his story. He was originally a hero who brought honor in protecting his homeland. His squad of forty defeated a fortress of six hundred , in the end it was just a setup by their Allied headquarters. Their country was already entering peace talks at the time and Gied’s unit was used in order to commit an unjust act for the military stuff by seizing an enemy Transportation Network after peace was achieved. Naturally their actions were deemed as a war crime and they were they were labeled as Rebels. Their former comrades became their enemies, and some people just couldn’t accept that and committed suicide but the ones that did survive made the decision to travel with Gied in search of enemies to fight. Gied made a promise to his men that he would die as nothing more than a soldier, although he does admit that maybe he could have changed his life somehow and have become someone other than a soldier, just like Oda was able to stop killing.

bungostraydogss02e04-10bungostraydogss02e04-11

Oda has one regret in his last moments which is not saying goodbye to Dazai. He tells Gied about how Dazai had grown tired of the real world and seemed like he was waiting for death. However his way of waiting for death is different from Gied’s. The conversation stops and both guns fire, Both men drop to the floor and Gied dies first. Dazai arrives and immediately flies into a panic when he sees blood and Oda says he has something to tell him. Oda reminds Dazai of his quote near the beginning of the episode and tells him that he’ll never find such a thing. Despite what side one is on, whether it be saving or killing people, nothing beyond what he expects will appear. If he keeps searching for that world, nothing will fill that lonely hole in his heart and he will wander the darkness for eternity.

bungostraydogss02e04-14bungostraydogss02e04-13

After a few moments of silence, Dazai desperately asks Oda what he should do. Oda tells him to go to the side that saves people. If side both sides are the same, use that side to become a good person by saving the weak and protecting the vulnerable. It will make a little bit of a good difference in Dazai’s life if he does that. He knows this because they are friends. Oda makes reference to the final quote in the book. He registers how true the saying actually is and then dies in Dazai’s arms.

Two weeks later, Dazai finds Chief Taneda drinking in a small bar and tells him that he is looking for a new job. However, he doesn’t want to join the Special Operations Division. He requests that he can be placed somewhere that allows him to help people. Taneda tells him of a “certain organization in a legal gray zone and are untouchable by civil workers” and what he’d need to do to be placed there. After that, we fast forward to four years later annnnnd cliffhanger till next week’s episode entitled “Three Companies Conflict” BYYYYEE

Bungo Stray Dogs S02E03 Recap

0

Kaetan desu! (*≧▽≦)

The scene starts off in a rainy monochrome setting. A man with a blacked-out face asks what appears to be a young man also with a blacked-out face what interests him to keep reading a certain book over and over. The young man says it’s interesting and he’s read it many times. The older man insists that there are better reading materials out there and then he asks where the third part of the book is, revealing it to be a trilogy. The young man replies that he has repeatedly searched for it but hasn’t had any luck locating it. The older man then concludes that part 3 of that story is the worst and the young man should consider himself satisfied with the first two books of the trilogy. The young man says he can’t do that, so the old man then tells him to write it himself. He explains that it’s the only way that the young man will be able to keep that story perfect. He states that “To write a story is to write about a person and how that person should live and die”, and the old man believes that the young man has the potential to do so. The young man asks who the older gentleman is and as he is about to give his name, blackness………….AHHMAIGARD WHAT A CLIFFHANGER TO START WITH!!!

bungostraydogs02e03-4

Oda wakes up in a bed with Dazai at his side. Apparently he made a breakthrough and survived the poison. He tells Dazai how he found Ango at Mimic’s headquarters and how he escaped with some black Special Ops. The two men are further discussing which organization to prioritize, and as the Ops seem to be working for a separate organization Mimic is definitely the more dangerous enemy. Dazai says that the most frustrating part about it is that they don’t know what the leader looks like or what his ability is. On a side note, Akutagawa also comes up in the conversation as Oda confirms what he has heard about his abilities. Dazai says that Akutagawa has potential to become the strongest Mafia member in the future but he is utilizing his ability the wrong way. Dazai is trying to teach him that there are other ways of using his ability besides for simply killing. Dazai says that Akutagwa and other subordinates are in the midst of what was an ambush attack by some Mimic soldiers. On hearing this, Oda grabs his guns and heads towards the scene. When Dazai asks why he’s doing this, Oda says that he’s racked up a lot of debts in his life and if his subordinates are in trouble they need help.

bungostraydogs02e03-2

We head over to the scene where the fight is taking place as Akutagawa easily dispatches of some enemy Mimic soldiers.  We can see that he has learnt from his previous mistake and is now using his ability as a defensive mechanism for guns. Clearly frustrated by only having to dispose of small fry, Akutagawa challenges a man who reveals himself from the darkness. The man’s name is Gide and he is the leader of Mimic.  Akutagawa sees this as an opportunity to be noticed by Dazai for killing the leader of the organization that they so despise, so he challenges him to a showdown.  Akutagawa tries to attack but Gide seems to know his every move eventually closing in on Akutagawa and putting his Graugeist to his head. Ashamed of his defeat, Akutagawa tells Gide to pull the trigger but before he can, Oda arrives in the nick of time and saves Akutagawa from certain death. He puts Akutagawa over his shoulder and heads out.

bungostraydogs02e03-15

When Oda tells him who he is as they escape, Akutagawa tries to impale him, but Oda’s ability kicks in, allowing him to prevent the attack. Akutagawa expresses his pure hatred for Oda taking away Dazai’s attention from him and tries to attack again but Oda successfully knocks him out before he can do any further damage. Gide appears saying that Oda the person that he has been searching for. Oda’s ability starts to take effect but something is wrong. He is shown a future where he is shot in the head everytime, no matter where he tries to dodge. When Oda demands that Gide explain to him what’s going on, Gide tells him that he saw two futures where Oda would dodge so he adjusted his aim both times. They two men share the same ability. WHAT THE….

bungostraydogs02e03-5
Gide says Oda is the only one who can kill him and end the war between the Port Mafia and Mimic. When Oda refuses to do so, Gide becomes furious and demands to know why he will not do so. Apparently the members of Mimic have been searching all over the world for a place worthy of death and he insists that Oda should be the one to carry out their wishes. Oda reveals to him (and to us watching, finally) that he refuses to kill because he wants to become a writer…………..HUH?! So…the young man is revealed to have been Oda…I still want to know who that old man is though -_- Oda tells Gide a man who takes lives cannot write about lives and that is why he won’t kill. After exchanging more heated words and gunshots, Gide retreats for the time being but he says that he will make Oda understand what sort of organisation Mimic really is.

We switch to another scene in the evening. Dazai and Oda are heading to their usual spot at the bar. Dazai suspects that Ango will be there, and sure enough he is already there. As Ango reflecst on how happy he is to be drinking with Dazai and Oda again. Dazai reveals that he knows that Ango is a triple agent. In short, not only was he a spy for the Port Mafia during his infiltration of Mimic, but he is also spying on the Port Mafia for government-related reasons. WHA-WHAAAAAAAAAT?! this show………..

bungostraydogs02e03-7

Ango says that the government is planning that Port Mafia handle the Mimic matter entirely.  Dazai says that unless they count Oda as part of the operation that even the Port Mafia will have difficulties taking down Gide. Because they have the same ability, Ango says that the government has observed that when similar abilities interact, they create unexpected situations in rare cases. Ango was under the influence that he could come to the bar and the men share a drink, regardless of position, but Dazai instructs him to leave before he forgets himself. Ango does so, but he leaves the picture that they took on the bar surface as a reminder.

bungostraydogs02e03-8

We start a new scene on a new day. Oda is headed to drop off some groceries for the orphans at the ramen place. Unfortunately on arriving he gets there to find the place trashed, the owner bleeding and the childen missing from their room. Oda then hears the sound of an engine revving outside. It is a van and to his horror, the children are in it. Oda jumps off the roof to rescue them, but it is too late. A large explosion engulfs the car, imaginably killing everyone inside. Oda becomes absolutely distraught with sorrow and it is at that moment that he decides that he will no longer be able to fulfill his dream of writing.

Gaming News: 28th of October, 2016 Edition

0

This week we begin our dish of news with some controversy from an unlikely source; Bethesda Softworks announced this week, that moving forward they will only provide review samples to game reviewers a day before the official launch of the game. Yes you heard it correctly, the reviews you want for their upcoming games you are interested in, will come at best, on the day the game is released.

The statement read as follows:

At Bethesda, we value media reviews.

We read them. We watch them. We try to learn from them when they offer critique. And we understand their value to our players.

Earlier this year we released DOOM. We sent review copies to arrive the day before launch, which led to speculation about the quality of the game. Since then DOOM has emerged as a critical and commercial hit, and is now one of the highest-rated shooters of the past few years.

With the upcoming launches of Skyrim Special Edition and Dishonored 2, we will continue our policy of sending media review copies one day before release. While we will continue to work with media, streamers, and YouTubers to support their coverage – both before and after release – we want everyone, including those in the media, to experience our games at the same time.

We also understand that some of you want to read reviews before you make your decision, and if that’s the case we encourage you to wait for your favorite reviewers to share their thoughts.

Skyrim Special Edition releases globally on October 28 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Dishonored 2 releases globally on November 11 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Ignoring how much bullshit that statement is (at Bethesda we value media reviews??? Sure looks like it), this is certainly going to spark an anti-consumer trend from other developers. We often wait for reviews to come out before we spend our good money on these $60 dollar games, and we certainly deserve to know beforehand if these games are worth purchasing. Too often in the last few years, gamers have been caught up in the also distasteful pre-order culture, to be then saddled with broken often unplayable games. What we did not need, was less reviews Bethesda; we know you have earned a lot of good will from us gamers who respected the games you have been releasing, however this is one act we cannot and SHOULD not stand for.

Moving onto Sony, this week they showcased two new controllers by Razer and Nacon that will be released sometime this year (for holiday season since you know…the year is soon over). This is clearly in response to Microsoft’s Xbox One Elite controllers earlier this year that gamers have taken a liking to.ps4procontrollers-1024x576

  • 5mm headset jack with dedicated headset volume and mute buttons
  • Detachable analog stick rubber caps

  • Compatibility with all PS4 systems via the 3m-long secure connection USB cable – detachable for easy storage.

These two devices have a healthy amount of customization available to gamers, I am sure the prices will look quite healthy as well.

And finallySteam Halloween is here today! We can expect tons of sales, especially on horror theme titles, but so far we know these titles here will be on discounted prices:

  • Resident Evil 6 – 75% OFF
  • BioShock Infinite – 75% OFF
  • AFK: Survival Evolved – 33% OFF
  • Dying Light – 75% OFF

Keep your eyes peeled for more discounted titles to come.

What are your thoughts on this week’s stories? I really want to hear what you think about Bethesda and their “noble” act. Stay locked to this space.

Pure Genius S01E01 Recap

I don’t really have a lot to say about this pilot because I wasn’t impressed or moved by it in any way.

It wasn’t bad, but I wasn’t invested in it. That characters, the story lines. Nothing that was going on, really. It just didn’t resonate with me. I wouldn’t say that it was boring. It was somewhat watchable, but it just didn’t grab me. This pilot was kind of nothing.

I felt nothing while watching it.

James Belle, one of the two main characters (the young man who is very rich but we don’t know exactly how rich or how he made said riches, who built the hospital), is likeable enough. Of all of the characters that appeared he was the only one who sort of made an impression but it wasn’t a big one at all.

I couldn’t help thinking about Mark Zuckerberg and The Social Network. Not that he’s anything like the Mark Zuckerberg depicted in the film or that the show is anything like the film, but its difficult not to draw that comparison.

The other main character, Dr. Walter Wallace, is just there. I didn’t care about him.

I get the feeling that this show is going to be epic ass pulls, shoddy science or science which is never explained and impossible medicine so out there that suspension of disbelief is going to be incredibly difficult or outright unachievable. That didn’t really happen in this episode, but if the rest of the season is as flat and uninteresting as this pilot then you won’t care about that. But that’s not a compliment.

On another note, none of the emotional moments had any impact whatsoever.

I guess you could call the episode forgettable. There was nothing about it that stood out.

It’s a new show and this is only the pilot so I will give it two or four more episodes before I decide to drop it, and by extension stop recapping it. The premise is interesting enough that I will keep watching it just to see where it goes.

This episode was mediocre. Bland. “Meh.” So much so that I have no random thoughts to share.

Pure Genius airs Thursdays at 10 PM on CBS.
