Who are your influences and what have you learned from them?
My influences are Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj, Hayao Miyazaki, and Kentaro Miura. I’ve learned world building, confidence and an alternative approach to my artistry from each of them.
How has your work and your process changed over time?
My work has changed plenty over the years, because I’m not painting from the perspective of a moody, angsty, young lady anymore. I still take inspiration from that version of me, because I do explore the darker themes of life. But it’s more of a real world sensual exploration, instead of just painting to be edgy and provocative. This came with me understanding my emotions a lot better as well.
How would you describe your artistic style or creative approach?
My art style is a reflection of my art tutors, where I’m from, my soul, where I want to go in life and where I go in my dreams. I use all of this to create from the perspective of someone that isn’t limited by human existence. As it relates to my creative approach it’s a little erratic, because I travel through time metaphorically for ideas and execution.
What’s the most rewarding part of being an artist?
The most rewarding part of being an artist is feeling the birth of an idea and alchemizing it from start to finish. It’s a very euphoric feeling and it’s the closest I’ll get to being a wizard, because it feels like I get my ideas from the celestials.
When people engage with your work, what do you want them to get out of it?
I want people to see my artwork and feel emotion, positive or negative, and to use it as a tool to look within their shadow.
