How would you describe your artistic style or creative approach?
Authenticity and narrative are the foundations of my artistic style. My objective is always to make the lyrics come to life in a way that resonates strongly with the audience, whether I’m performing soca, calypso, or any other genre. To make sure that audiences not only hear but also feel my music, I approach every performance with a blend of vocal delivery, stage presence, and emotional expression.
Having learned the value of adaptability and innovation as a three-time Junior Monarch and Pic O’ De Crop Finalist, making unforgettable stage moments that honor culture, passion, and connection is what it means to me.
What would you say is the best decision you’ve made in your career thus far?
Entering the realm of soca music is possibly the best decision that has benefitted my career immensely. My singing journey started around the age of nine years old in genres like pop, r&b and ballads. Over the years, I have ventured into reggae, calypso, gospel and jazz. However, soca has boosted my public image within Barbados and allowed others to grow familiar with my craft and talent.
What are some goals that you have yet to achieve, if any?
My ultimate goal in life is to be an international and recognized artiste. Being on stage and embracing the art of performing is my passion. Whether it be singing or drama, any opportunity that I am given on stage to perform, I have always enjoyed. So, progressing to the international level is my only goal.
What’s the most rewarding part of being an artist?
Being an artiste has so many credits and benefits to you as an individual. However, personally, I love the way my music allows me to connect with people from all over the world. Music is a universal language that unifies people from all walks of life and when I encounter new stages, I get to witness the happiness that my music ignites in people. That is the most rewarding experience of being an artiste, being able to bring joy to someone’s day.
For you as an artist, is there a work of art or an artist that resonates with you on a profound level?
No. I tend to enjoy music from various genres and artistes. Having to choose one would dismiss the purpose of music and its effect. I believe each performer has something different to offer for others to learn and emulate.
